I have been investing for a while now. My goal is to see at least 15% growth pa. I choose an eclectic mix of companies, predominantly US technology firms but often including UK, European and US stocks I think are undervalued.
My main area of knowledge is technology, I spent 40 years in computing in all areas including strategic visions for companies. I think technology stocks are one of the key strengths of the USA, showing innovation and scientific breakthroughs. The USA has suffered like Europe from the loss of most of its manufacturing base to the Far East, intellectual property and brainpower is its last stronghold of differentiation, as finance is to the UK.
In the UK and Europe I look for technology too, but also companies that have been overly driven down by the market due to some major failure, examples might be BP, Tesco, Thomas Cook.
I guess I can be considered a value investor as I look for growth potential and strong differentiation and market value rather than a quick buck
