Avav gains first license to sell drones outside of military

Avav made three good moves last week. Firstly they were granted one of only two licenses to sell their puma unmanned vehicles (drones) to any commercial enterprise. This is the first licence granted by the FAA under new rules laid down by Obama that will ensure drones become regular daily sight in the USA and globally.
Secondly they have produced a lightweight Puma drone with solar panels on the wings extending flight time to over 9 hours and vastly multiplying the use case for this excellent little vehicle. It is not a far run to see it in the air over US cities used by media (for trafic), police (for surveillance) and a host of more commercial uses such as monitoring livestock on large ranches, checking border crossings, the list goes on. Thirdly they cut a deal with a major Indian technology company which will ensure they get ready sales into Asian markets.

I continue to view this stock as a baseline investment for the next 10 years, making up a portion of a broad portfolio of tech stocks.
