The IEEE has released a report today predicting growth in the Internet through 2020. Two things stand out, one the growth in Wifi tops wireline, and the mobile grows from insignificant today to nearly 8% of world data by 2015, less than 3 years away. To do this will require huge upgrades to the worlds mobile infrastructure, which is where my choice of Dragonwave will begin to gain traction.
Dragonwave is the worlds leading provider of IP backhaul services through air. It is estimated that some 40% of towers will require a solution that does not support fibre due to distance or other considerations. Microwave is a solid reliable performer. I worked in TV in the Caribbean and we beamed our whole station to Tobago from Trinidad using one microwave tower for 15 years with no failures.
