Philipp Humm has been appointed to run the northern and eastern European divisions of Vodafone. Humm just resigned as CEO of T-Mobile in the USA, owned by Deutche Telecom. Before becoming CEO of T-Mobile he ran their German division and apparently knows the European mobile market well.
Vodafone is focussing on increasing market share in Northern Europe.Humm is an ideal candidate for this job, bright (McKinsey) and with wide direct market experience in the region, see below.
From 1986-1992, Humm was with the consulting firm McKinsey in Germany and in Los Angeles – California.
From 1992-1999, Humm was an executive with the grocery retailer Tengelmann in Germany, where he became a member of the Executive Board in 1996 and in 1998 CEO of their food-discounter Plus.
From 2000-2002, Humm was an executive with the online retailer Amazon, where he held roles as Managing Director of Amazon Germany and France, and VP Europe.
