Unmanned Systems

A press release from Aerovironment, led me to a DOD document, outlining the US military goals for unmammed vehicles from now until 2049. It is a fascinating document, in that it posits AI managed systems that act independently of a human other than to set goals, within 10 years.  The graph below shows how rapidly this field is developing. It shows the growth of unmanned systems for flight in terms of hours flying and it goes on to say this has already exceeded 1m hours. It seems to me worth researching two new areas I had not focussed on before, unmanned marine systems and unmanned ground vehicles. These will be the subject of later posts.
