In Body Computers

In 1992 I started work on some software called "Mobile Organizer" which took a desktop calender and notes onto a Casio PDA so that London businessmen could carry their diaries with them in a neat tiny slim form to fit those tailored clothes. I predicted then, on stage at conferences organised by Finsbury, that the desktop was finished and the hand was the next generation of technology. At that time a cell phone looked like this (see above).

I am now convinced that the technology will move into embedded or at least close contact form within the next 10 years. Google is preparing glasses to give true heads up and with no speakers as it will communicate directly through bone. Apple is developing a wrist solution. Why do I have to look for my cell phone when it rings, why do I have to hold something in my hand reducing my ability to do other things. Already I am reading of electro eyes that see better than we do, computer controlled hands interfacing with the body and other marvels. After all we forget that in 1958 in Sweden the first pacemaker was installed, in effect a computer "in body"!
