A report from Gartner on expected 2012 sales is enlightening. It shows sales of some 419m phones worldwide of which Apple which gets all the attention is about 28m or 6%. Nokia despite all the talk came in second in sales after Samsung. It seems that Nokia and RIM could still pull off a turnaround, its getting harder but they could. Of the two its a hard call. Rim has a new operating system but no apps at all, Nokia has apps. I would bet on Nokia but whether the board has the strength to support Elop over a long haul is the big question.
Unit sales are in thousands.
