Aerovironment continues to deliver good results in a world where many companies are stalling. In 2012 they have delivered 11% growth in revenue and a 16% growth in EPS. But much more is positive behind the scenes. In 2012 they delivered their first none military UAS for use by police and border forces, and installed hundreds of advanced electric chargers that can recharge a system in less than 30 minutes. Below are some significant extracts from the annual report.
Our outstanding team executed effectively in
2012, delivering annual growth of 11% in
revenue, 16% in earnings per fully diluted
share and 12% in funded backlog, yet these
metrics only tell part of our story. Across our
business we continued to deliver valuable
capabilities to our customers while growing
our leading market positions, expanding our
team and broadening our portfolio of products
and services.
A July 2011 United States Department of
Defense publication showed that our small
unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) represented
85% of the more than 7,500 unmanned aircraft
in the Pentagon’s inventory.
Our Efficient Energy Systems business
segment demonstrated similar progress as we
support the broad adoption of electric vehicles
with easy to use, reliable charging solutions.
In 2012 we expanded the rollout of 240-Volt
EV charge docks, deploying more than 9,000
throughout the U.S. and Canada. We won new
home charging contracts with BMW of North
America and Mitsubishi Motors North America.
We activated the first portion of the West Coast
Green Highway™, consisting of our fast charging
systems along Interstate 5 in Washington and
Oregon. In addition, we installed more 240-Volt
charge docks in Hawaii, as well as public fast
and 240-Volt charging stations for NRG Energy
in Dallas and Houston
