I don't often invest in Mutual Funds, but there are a couple of the First State funds managed by Angus Tulloch that have performed extremely well even in trying times that I thought they were worth a mention. This is what they say about him, but his track record at Asia Pacific Leaders and Global Leaders has been exceptional. Even in 2008/9 they returned a small growth, but in what was considered normal years once they were giving back 20%+. I am led to believe that in most cases the fund is the manager and exceptional managers can provide great performance over time. I think this guy may be one of the top performers in his field.
Angus Tulloch is Joint Managing Partner of the Asia Pacific & Global Emerging Markets equity team at First State Investments. Angus’ primary focus is stock selection and portfolio construction. Angus has more than 30 years' investment experience, joining Stewart Ivory (subsequently bought by First State Investments) in Scotland in 1988. It was here that he established an Asia Pacific/Global Emerging Markets capability. Since this time the team have gained industry recognition as one of the leading managers in their sectors.
