Tesco and the Newspapers

I have just finished reading the press response to Tesco figures. It is very interesting. Tesco's own published figures show growth in all major areas above last year. In the UK growth is about 0.7% down. Combining this (as over half Tescos sales are UK driven) gives a 2.2% overall sales growth. In perspective this is in a time when Europe is collapsing (we are told), and Asia is slowing. Not bad for a company that delivers over 5% dividends.

Reading the newspapers its like reading some other results. "Tesco fails" Tesco down again" "Tesco in trouble". Is this their deeper understanding, or is this some prejudice? Is it that newspapers prefer to print doom and gloom? Where are the headlines "Tesco does well in down market".
